ISKA Canada maintains a direct and active affiliation with ISKA World Headquarters, ensuring that Canadian athletes, coaches, officials, and promoters operate within internationally recognized standards, rules, and development pathways.
ISKA Canada continues to improve and strengthen its national framework through the ongoing support, guidance, and collaboration of ISKA World Headquarters. This relationship helps ensure consistency in governance, safety standards, officiating education, and athlete development while respecting ISKA Canada's autonomy as the national body.
In 2026, ISKA proudly celebrates its 40th Anniversary, marking four decades of international leadership, growth, and contribution to kickboxing and combat sports worldwide. ISKA Canada is honored to be part of this global milestone, recognizing ISKA's long-standing commitment to safety, integrity, and the development of athletes and officials across generations.
As part of the global ISKA network operating in over 50 countries worldwide, ISKA Canada connects Canadian participants to internationally recognized competition opportunities while supporting the sustainable growth of the sport within communities across the country.

OUR PURPOSE
ISKA Canada is a non-profit national sport organization dedicated to the governance, development, and promotion of kickboxing and combat sports across Canada. As the Canadian authority representing the International Sport Kickboxing Association, we are committed to the highest standards of safety, integrity, and professionalism.
ISKA Canada provides national coordination in event sanctioning and regulation, athlete development pathways from grassroots participation to high-performance competition, coach, referee, and official education and certification, and standardized rules, grading, and ranking systems.
Through a nationally coordinated framework, ISKA Canada supports athletes, coaches, officials, and promoters by ensuring consistency, transparency, and athlete welfare across all ISKA-sanctioned activities.
Driven by a non-profit mandate and supported by ISKA World Headquarters, ISKA Canada reinvests its efforts into athlete safety, education, and long-term sport development, helping to build a strong, ethical, and unified future for kickboxing and combat sports in Canada.

President, ISKA World
Cory Schafer is the President of ISKA World and has been involved in the administration and sanctioning of kickboxing and combat sports at the international level since 1986.. His role includes supporting national ISKA federations by providing international oversight, technical guidance, and consistency in global standards.
Through ISKA World Headquarters, Cory Schafer supports national bodies by facilitating international alignment, recognition, and access to global competition structures, while allowing each country to manage its own domestic governance and operations independently.

The Ice Man
Jean Thériault is a Canadian pioneer of kickboxing and one of the most influential figures in the development of the sport in North America. He is widely recognized for introducing and promoting full-contact kickboxing in Canada during its early years, helping to establish modern rules, training standards, and competitive structures.
Through decades of teaching, officiating, and organizing, Jean Thériault has played a key role in shaping the growth and legitimacy of kickboxing both nationally and internationally.
